One of my favorite things about our fabrics is the selvedge. I know it sounds a bit crazy but it’s true. Not only have we designed a beautiful soft palette of prints just aching to be stitched into a fabulous quilt, we’re also sending you a secret message. These lovely messages written on the selvedge feel like small love notes sent to everyone who uses our fabric.
This time, our note to you is from Shakespeare…”Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” Maybe I’m getting old and sentimental, but those eight words almost bring tears to my eyes. It might be that I know the words that follow… “Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and summer’s lease hath all too short a date.”
As you look through the prints and colors of Sweet Cherry Wine – and really all of the collections from Moda this fall – take a moment to read the selvedges and enjoy the messages. Then remember that Barb and I think you are all the “darling buds of May”.
Then create something warm and beautiful.
