How Do I Quilt It?

June 12 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Blue and white geometric pattern quilt.

“Quilt as desired” Well, what does that mean???

There are a lot of techniques for quilting your projects – but instructions are scattered all over and not always easy to find. This class will explore some of the options and give you a chance to try each of them. We will not be creating a finished piece, but we will create sampler squares.

For example:

  • Marking directly on the quilt – what options work for creating stitching lines – straight, diagonal, crosshatch etc. Tracing around found objects to create designs.
  • using stencils – how to mark a quilt using a stencil – looking for continuous line designs, making stencils fit in the space you have
  • Copying designs and using Golden Threads paper – how to place and stitch designs through paper.
  • Free motion meandering – loops, pebbles, and other designs
  • Using rulers with your machine to add to your design options.

We’ll also explore thread and batting options. If you’re uncomfortable with free motion quilting, this will be a good way to practice your skills. Make sure your machine can be set up – bring your instruction book if you’re not sure and don’t forget to bring your walking foot and a free motion foot.
